Chopta Important Travel Tips:

  • Make sure you carry warm clothes irrespective of the fact that what season you are travelling in.
  • Recommended Stay in Chopta is for 2 nights or 3 nights, unless you want to bird watching or explore more treks around Chopta.
  • There is no electricity in entire Chopta Region. All the hotels in chopta and swiss camps in Chopta have solar powered supply (limited time). It is recommended to carry a power bank to recharge your electronic device.
  • It is advisable to carry required cash with you during Chopta Visit. One can find last working ATMs in Ukhimath (which is mostly out of service).
  • Ukhimath is the nearest market from Chopta (30 kms), from where you can purchase essential items, medicines, vegetables, fruits, Non-veg, etc
  • There is no medical facility in Chopta, nearest hospital is at Ukhimath.
  • Try to search Chopta Ukhimath or Meraki Mayadeep Resort for location of Chopta Hill Station in Google Search or Maps for accurate distance and time of travel, so that you can plan better. Otherwise, you might reach Chopta Village by following Google Maps.
  • There are no direct bus/cab services to Chopta (public transport) but one can hire Local taxi from Ukhimath to reach Chopta. It is recommended to hire a cab from Rishikesh/Haridwar/Dehradun as the local cab charges are high and even the availability of the same is difficult sometimes. Check How to reach Chopta.

Chopta Trekking Tips

The trek route from Chopta is relatively easy to moderate and can easily be done with kids or with elderly people. However here are some trekking tips for your Chopta tour.

  • A good pair of trekking shoes is must, if you want to trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila from Chopta.
  • A well informed and trained guide is very important.
  • Hiring a guide is strictly recommended if one is planning a snow trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila.
  • Ponies or Horses are available in Chopta till Tungnath only (except winters). For Chandrashilla one has to trek.
  • Carry Sunscreens, Sunglasses, dry fruits and chocolates for the trek
